In 3rd grade social studies, students were learning about Louisiana history / la historia de Luisiana / l’histoire de la Louisiane. During their arts integrated classes, they learned about the various components of comic strips / historieta / bande dessinée, such as the panel / viñieta / vignette, scene / escena / scène, foreground / primer plano / premier plan, background / fondo / fond, dialogue / diálogo / dialogue, and descriptive text / texto descriptivo / texte descriptif. Students created individual panels about important moments throughout Louisiana history and compiled their comic strips together to create a timeline / linea del tiempo / ligne du temps. At the end of the unit, students displayed their timelines in accordion books / libro de acordeón / livre accordeon to share.
