Celebrating 20 Years of Cocktails for KID smART: A Record-Breaking Success for Arts Education
Cocktails for KID smART, KID smART's annual event that supports arts education in New Orleans, recently celebrated its 20th anniversary. We exceeded expectations and raised nearly $160,000, making it the most significant amount ever raised for this event. Our success is a testament to the committee members' dedication and the community's generosity. The funds raised will go to expanding KID smART's Creative School programming.
Hosted at Press Street Station, the gallery walls were adorned with the artwork of previous Cocktails for KID smART Featured Artists and student art. The event featured delicious bites provided by Zasu during the exclusive patron hour, while the main event was catered by local favorite Martin Wine & Spirits. Kyle Roussel provided musical entertainment during the patron hour, and Kaleb and the Minz, a group of four NOCCA jazz students, serenaded guests throughout the main event.
The main event included a live auction of a one-of-a-kind art piece by Aimée Farnet Siegel and a Bourbon Tasting Experience hosted by photographer L. Kasimu Harris. Attendees also had the opportunity to bid on wine bottles created by local artists. KID smART board members Krystal Hardy Allen, Martine Chaisson Linares, and Jeanette "J.R." Weiland co-chaired the event, and The Aida Smith Johnson Fund for Children was the event's presenting sponsor.
Overall, the 20th Anniversary of Cocktails for KID smART was a tremendous success, and it is heartening to see so many people come together to support KID smART’s mission. Till next year!
