Bringing “What the Moon Sees” To Life

Never Underestimate the Power of the Kindergartener

Ms. Bridges Kindergarten class has been working on developing the skills to determine the difference between the day and night sky. Because Ms. Bridges is a teacher who uses art with all her lesson plans to deepen understanding and broaden the experience with her students, it is a fun challenge to dive deeper with her already colorful lessons. For this particular session we focused on identifying visual evidence of the day and night sky through exploration of the narrative poem “What the Moon Sees” using puppet making. This lesson was an opportunity for students to explore color choices and pattern making in a composition. I was not surprised but delighted by the outcome of the paper bag characters we created to read through “What the Moon Sees” with feeling!
