Primary Character Feelings Flags

RTP-ReNEW Therapeutic Program

ELA classes Elementary & Middle

Ms. Mia w/ Mr. Robertson & Mr. Holmes

Student Artists in Mr. Robertson’s ELA classes have been reading novels and short stories with a focus on theme and character. In class we explored the definition of character traits and brainstormed a list of those traits about our main characters. We then looked at specific moments in our stories and thought about how that character was feeling in that moment. We talked about the difference between TRAITS (describing a personality, long-lasting) versus FEELINGS (temporary, in response to something that happened). We then used the elements of SHAPE and COLOR to represent a feeling in order to create FEELINGS FLAGS for our characters. We noticed some of us expressed different feelings using the same color and vice versa. Check out KIDsmART’s WITH FEELING Curriculum for this Vocabulary Burst Lesson and remember- “No Feeling is Final!”
