Read-Aloud: Something Happened in Our Town by Ann Hazzard, Marianne Celano, and Marietta Collins

Today’s Art Apart Read-Aloud: Something Happened in Our Town by Ann Hazzard, Marianne Celano, and Marietta Collins

Something Happened in Our Town follows two families — one White, one Black — as they discuss a police shooting of a Black man in their community.

The story aims to answer children’s questions about such traumatic events, and to help children identify and counter racial injustice in their own lives.

Art Apart is supported by a grant from the Louisiana Division of the Arts, Office of Cultural Development, Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism, in cooperation with the Louisiana State Arts Council. Funding has also been provided by the National Endowment for the Arts, Art Works.
