Comics: Storytelling through Images and Sound

Do you sense that students grasp more than they’re able to express in writing? Looking for more ways for your students to demonstrate their understanding? Try comics! Comics is an art form that combines image and text. Whether you teach kindergarten social studies, first grade ELA, fourth grade science, or seventh grade math, comics is a flexible tool that can be adapted to any grade level and academic curriculum. In this workshop, Teachers will learn techniques for drawing and inking comics and get hands-on practice using tools such as panels, grids, speech and thought bubbles. Teachers will leave this workshop with their own improvisational comic creation and ideas on ways to use comics for challenging lessons.
