KID smART is thrilled to announce the launch of an exclusive paid arts internship program designed specifically for rising high school seniors in New Orleans. This groundbreaking initiative aims to provide invaluable opportunities for personal and professional growth while fostering a deeper connection to the vibrant arts and culture scene of our city.

The inaugural eight-week summer program (June 3 - July 27, 2024) is designed for 25 students. The internship will include three work days a week, along with program cohort days dedicated to college and career readiness, cultural experiences, and field trips. KID smART will match worksites with student candidates whose skills and passions match their unique needs and mission.

Program Details

Hand-on Experience

We match students with arts and culture worksites based on their individual skills, interests, and aspirations. Whether your passion lies in visual arts, performing arts, or arts administration, we'll connect you with an organization that aligns with your unique talents and goals.

Cultural Exploration

With three workdays per week and engaging cohort days, your internship will include college and career readiness, cultural experiences, and enriching field trips. You'll join a dynamic community of interns from diverse backgrounds, ready to explore and grow together.

Earn While You Learn

Interns will receive a full-time living wage ($16.51/hour, up to $581 per week) for their time and the program will cover all work-related expenses.

Eligible students should be

  • Rising seniors (entering their senior year of high school in September 2024)

  • Attending a public school in the city of New Orleans

Student Benefits

  • Students will be paid $16.51/hour (up to $581/week) for their time -- including orientations, worksite hours, cultural site visits and professional development sessions.

  • Interns will receive funds to cover all work-related expenses, ensuring that transportation, meals, and other necessities are taken care of!

Eligible organizations should

  • Have the staff capacity to host one to two interns, dedicating time to both their educational and professional development.

  • Be committed to fostering a safe physical and socio-emotional environment for youth of different abilities, cultural backgrounds, gender expressions, and other forms of identity.

  • Be available to host interns 3 days a week, 21 hours/week for eight weeks (June 3 - July 27, 2024).

Worksite Benefits

  • Worksites will receive a $2,000 stipend per intern
