KID smART, BeLOUD, and Being Heard- Recording a Podcast!

ReNEW Schools: Laurel & RTP  Elementary / Middle  | Multidisciplinary Art
Ms. Boyce, Mr. Washington, Ms. Davis & Amazing students & support staff

KID smART Arts Integration Specialist Mia Rotondo had the wonderful opportunity to join Be Loud’s Pass the Mic teacher cohort this year.  Through Be Loud, Mia has been able to bring recording equipment into her KID smART classrooms to co-create a project that would elevate student voice and expression in arts integration.  Mia’s big focus for these projects was to learn and explore the tools and look for ways to make the most accessible experience possible so that EVERY student could participate with joy and autonomy.

At RTP, students explored the beatmaker features, recorded a collaborative poem based on Langston Hughes’ I Dream A World, and planned and performed interview segments with fellow students and staff members. Listen to RTP in the Morning

At ReNEW Laurel’s Community Based Instruction, students worked with Ms. Mia to find more accessible ways to be heard in the classroom and their community by using instruments and interview elements in connection with our Social and Emotional Learning!  Listen to Exploring Sound with ReNEW Laurel!
